The Carrs Lane Lived Community is a small, ecumenical, residential community. We are based at, and supported by, the Church at Carrs Lane, at the heart of Birmingham's busy City Centre. Our context is both our greatest blessing and greatest challenge, bringing us into contact with Birmingham in all its beautiful diversity.

As a Community our life is underpinned by a regular routine of daily contemplative prayer. We share our daily life, eating and spending time together with other community members and with the many guests we welcome through our ministry of hospitality. We by no means live in poverty, but attempt to witness to a simple way of life, and we share our financial resources with one. We work and volunteer in different places, aspiring, through our voluntary service, to serve the city and its people, especially the poorest, as an expression of our faith.

We welcome comunity members from different Christian denominations and believe that our life is enriched by the diversity of expressions of Christian faith we encounter among community members, friends, and through our contact with different city centre churches. We pray to the same Christ.

About Us

"They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer...All the believers were together and had everything in common."

Acts 2:42,44
